One of my clients has had concerns about Google+ and is dealing with how to efficiently add over 100 different retail positions as a Google My Business account. With constantly changing standards with Google, it is hard to hit the mark and stay there with claiming your stake in the online world and helping people search and find your business with all of its correct elements, things like the address and phone number. This is why, regardless of whether Google’s social media platform is pointless, identifying your business correctly among Google’s platforms like Google Maps is necessary.
One problem that seems to be confusing is verification of a Google My Business property. Although we had created a google account with a non-gmail email, we were trying to add the client as a manager of the account. About a year ago this would be all that was required for a person to receive the manager invite. But it seems as of late you can only receive verification emails with a gmail account with a gmail email.
There are two important things with this. There is a Google account and then there is a gmail account within your Google account. You can associate a gmail email inside of an existing non-gmail account. If you create a gmail email inside of your existing Google account then you can log in with both your non-gmail account and your gmail email account. It is a bit awkward with the amount of detail that can go into setting up these types of accounts. Only once you’ve associated a gmail email inside of your Google account, can you go into the browser’s gmail account, click on the social tab, and then see your manager invites.
